STEP 1: Turn the Inside Out of the Balloon

First of all, turn the inside out of the punch balloon. Do it in a way so that the rubber band is on the inside with its end coming out of the mouth of the balloon.

STEP 2: Time to Blow up the Balloon

Try to get the balloon into the diameter of 11 inches. Make sure to pull the rubber band tightly. And tie the balloon and band together. You will end up with pumpkin shape of the balloon, thanks to the pressure created inside the balloon.

STEP 3: Wrap the Balloon with Rubber Bands

Time to wrap up the balloon with rubber bands!

Rubber bands will press the surface of the balloon, creating the looks of the ribs of a pumpkin. Start it by wrapping one rubber band around the balloon. It will divide it in half. Then another band will go to the opposite direction. The intercrossing of the rubber bands on the balloon will look like an “X”. Wrap other rubber bands until they are even placed over the balloon.

STEP 4: Prepare a Paper Mache Paste:

Add 2 cups of water to a 1 cup of multipurpose flour in a container. Mix it well to make sure it doesn’t remain lumped. Keep it thick.

STEP 5: Cut the Papers into Strips:

Cut your old newspapers or waste papers into 2×3 strips.

STEP 6: Apply the Paper Mache Paste to the Strips:

Dip the strip into the paste and remove the excess with the side of the containers or gliding your fingers over it. Stick them on the top of the balloon. Do this until you are done with the first layer. Then, apply the second layer in the same manner. Leave it aside for 24 hours to dry it.

STEP 7: Prepare Orange Papers into Strips of Fringe:

Cut the orange crepe papers into strips of fringe. Start it by taking one piece of the paper and fold it in half vertically. Fold in half again horizontally. Start stripping the horizontal fold and trim the entire sheet.

STEP 8: Create Tissue Circles Out of Remaining Orange Papers:

You can cut them into circles by placing a bowl over them. Then, use a paper cutter around the bowl gets the circles (4 circular patches will be enough).

STEP 9: Stick the Circles to the Balloon:

Start covering the bottom of the balloon with the circular patches. Glue the circular patches over one another. Then, stick some orange fringe strips to these patches.

STEP 10: Cover the Pumpkin with Orange Fringe Strips:

Stick the pumpkin with orange fringe strips in a circular manner. Work your way to the top of it.

STEP 11: Create a Pumpkin Leaves and Glue it to the Top Part:

Cut the green tissue paper into the shape of pumpkin leaf. Stick them to the top of the balloon (where the stem is supposed to be). Roll a green paper to make a tube and glue it to the top vertically. It will be the stem of your pumpkin.

STEP 12: Attach a Floral Wire for Hanging It:

Tape a floral wire to the leaves of your pumpkin piñata. To make sure it hangs strongly, attach four floral wires to cover other sides.
