Learn Home Theatre Installation in 5 Easy Steps

Home theatre lets you enjoy the surround sound and stunning visuals in your living room with all the perks of a movie theatre. Besides playing your favorite movies and games, you can stream online content.

It takes your movie-watching experience to the next level. But to enjoy such multimedia experiences, you have to go through tricky home cinema installations regarding connections, speaker placement, and screen adjustment. Even a high-end brand can’t deliver maximum results if it is not installed correctly.

Here are the steps helping you in home cinema installations to get the best out of your home theatre:

Placement of the Screen:

Before buying a TV or LCD, consider your living room’s atmosphere, and dimensions.

Choose the TV according to the size of your room. Your sitting place should be 2 and half times away from the screen size.

Room Lighting may play a crucial role as it eases the strain on your eyes while watching a T.V.

  1. Dark Room: Plasma and OLED
  2. Bright, Highly Lit rooms: LED or LCD
  3. Normal: LED and OLED

Placement of the Speakers:

If your speakers are not correctly placed, then they can produce a poor sound quality. Make sure your speakers’ path is clear of furniture or any glass item.

If your room is not that big then a small bar is enough, but if it is 700 sq. feet or more go at least a 5.1 speaker set. Bare walls may cause sound distortion, so it’s a good idea to cover them with rugs or furniture along the walls. Place your speakers as per the instructions given below:

  1. Front speakers: One meter to either side of the TV, facing front. Place these speakers to the ear level as possible instead of mounting these on the walls.

  1. Center speaker: Keep it near to the screen: directly above or below.

  1. Subwoofer: Though their recommended position is the middle of the front wall or space corner, you must place them where you can get the best sound.

  1. Rear speakers: Place them at the corner and center of the back wall for creating a good surround sound.

Video Playing Device:

Modern video source devices are more technologically advanced than ever before. Today, smart video players can play online content.

Cables:

Choose the right cable for the audio and video port. Nowadays, HDMI cables are used to a large extent as they are most convenient and explore the full video potential of devices. However, choose the appropriate cable if there is no HDMI connection in your devices. Use only a speaker cable to connect the speakers.

Connecting:

Switch off the whole system to avoid any short circuit. First, connect the cables to the speakers and then to the amplifier. Connect TV, Video Source, or media player by using HDMI cable. Check the T.V. if it is properly connected. In case you have no HDMI cable you can use RCA cables. Connect directly your T.V. to the video source if your receiver is not working.
