Troubleshooting Tips for Your AC to Work Well

Check out the most common causes for why an air conditioner won’t cool your house properly. And, if you want to save your buckets of money, follow these simple do-it-yourself troubleshooting tips that you can use to get your AC up and running properly.

Air Conditioning Repair Tips

1.   Check Your Thermostat

The cooling and heating of our HVAC system depends on the thermostat and not us! Therefore, check the location of your thermostat.  A thermostat located in a deep dark hall which remains cool throughout and is set to 72 will not let your AC cool the rest of the house. So, adjust your thermostat to start with.

 2.   Check Your AC Condenser

If you want your AC to cool properly, make it a routine to clean your AC condenser on regular intervals. Check it for debris, any leaves, dirt mold and grime that have collected on it. Clean it with a hose and a brush. These are the coils where your air conditioner releases the heat from inside your house. So, make sure they are clean always.

Warning – Don’t stick your hands inside the condenser as it may kick on and hurt you!

 3.   Check Your AC’s Air Filter

Your Air Conditioner is a filter to keep impurities from accumulating on your AC’s internal components. Reducing allergens is it’s an ancillary advantage. Change your air conditioning filter once in every three months. This is somewhat similar when we are unable to breathe properly while cough or cold. The air conditioner is unable to work well when it has to push air through a saturated filter. Therefore, change the filter today!

Bonus Tip: Don’t try to be a professional. Don’t poke your head inside things much without having professional knowledge or experience. Rather call a professional when required.
