Luckily, there is some easy way to remove stains, odors, and dirt from your carpets. And you can do them on your own. All you need to follow the tips given below.

Treat the Carpet with a Carpet Brush:

The basic way to clean your carpet is to use a carpet brush. The brush can remove soil, dust, and pollutants from your carpet. All you need to get on your knees to do this job. Afterward, make sure to run a vacuum across the floor to remove the dirt and pollutants that you just took out. Repeat this process every week to keep your carpet free from dirt and dust.

Vacuuming:

Vacuuming is an effective way to remove dangers, dust, and debris accumulated in the rugs or carpets. It should be done both horizontally and vertically over the rug. For example, first vacuum the carpet forward and back, then repeat the process moving left to right. This way, you can reach every part of the twisted fibers of the carpet. How often should you use vacuum your carpet is determined by some factors.

Vacuum clean the rug at least once a week per person in your family or 20 pounds of pet. For example, a home with two persons with two cats requires three times a week. A single person with a 60 pound of dog should vacuum the rug four times a week.

Clean the Carpet with Vinegar:

Don’t worry! You have an alternative in the form of vinegar. Get a bucket, a scrub brush, some white vinegar and a little bit of sweat. Moreover, vinegar is useful to remove slime from carpet and other stains.

Here is a recipe of making a vinegar cleaning solution for a carpet:

  • Fill the bucket with warm water.
  • Add ¼ cup white vinegar.
  • Dip the scrub brush into the bucket.
  • Start to scrub the carpet with the cleaning solution.
  • Make sure to use the solution to get the carpet a little wet.
  • Once you are done with the carpet scrubbing, empty the bucket and fill it with fresh water.
  • Dip a cloth towel or a rag into the bucket. Wring it out and scrub the carpet again with it.
  • Let your carpet dry thoroughly. Or you can speed up the drying by using a floor fan.

 Cleaning the Carpet with Baking Soda:

Baking soda is an amazing product as it can be used for everything from cooking to cleaning. Moreover, it is a cheap solution that is eco-friendly and will deal with stains and unpleasant odors in your carpet. And it cleaning your carpets with baking soda is not rocket science.

Just sprinkle some amount of baking soda on a stain. Let it sit for at least three hours to let it soak up and absorb the dirt and odors. Once the area is dried, use a vacuum cleaner to suction out the baking soda.

Note: Once the carpet has been cleaned, don’t let anyone walk on it until it gets dried. Don’t clean your way to a corner. Start from the area farthest from the door so that you can make your way to the exit.
